The final Friday Night Candlelit Yoga for this year will be Friday 18th December and will be in aid of Glass Door Homeless Charity. It will be a livestreamed event via Zoom.
From time to time I run my regular candlelit events in aid of a chosen charity and we have previously raised money for St George’s Hospital Charity in Tooting and a London-based charity called Ourmala that supports refugees.
I like to select a charity that has a London focus since in ‘normal times’ I teach in physical spaces around London. And this Christmas I wanted to support those who have found themselves homeless in the city. This year I think has highlighted how fragile our lives and livelihoods are and how people can easily lose jobs and find themselves in serious financial problems. That coupled with all sorts of other life challenges means people find themselves without a home.
With that in mind, I have chosen Glass Door charity for the next event. It operates in the south and south west London area providing support and shelter for people by working with churches and community centres. However, this year with Covid restrictions in place, it is becoming increasingly difficult and costly to find suitable safe locations for their work.
You can find out a lot more about the charity’s work by heading HERE.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE CLASS:
The Livestream Friday Night Candlelit Class will be similar to previous events. It will include vinyasa-style flowing yoga sequences, with some restorative yoga work, coupled with relaxation.
It is open to all levels.
It will start at 6.45pm ending at 8.15pm – the charity event is slightly longer than usual running for an hour and a half.
WHAT TO BRING?
Make sure you have a mat and a couple of blankets and a few cushions (yoga bolster if you have one).
Light some candles, dim the lights, log into zoom and I’ll send you a Spotify playlist you can use if you want.
